this is a modification of Netfront 3.3.21 ed which includes the following..........

1. Default Netfront icon is replaced with a more pleasing Mozilla Firefox icon
2. Useragent NS4 (Netscape4) is changed to Nokia 3230

the idea behind changing useragent to nokia is........
there are some mobile websites which require u to access them only with a mobile device like a phone, pocket pc etc.
the websites check ur browser's useragent to determine whether u r using a mobile device.
u will be allowed access only if ur user agent belongs to a mobile device.
like if u r using default nokia browser on a nokia 3230 then ur user agent will be.....Nokia3230/2.0 (3.0505.2) SymbianOS/7.0s Series60/2.1 Profiles/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.0
unfortunately netfront does not support nokia user agents nor does it have any option to manually edit the user agents. it only has the following user agents.....NetFront, IE5, IE6, NS4, NS7

in this mod i change the useragent NS4 to NOK which has a nokia 3230 string, so irrespective of ur phone model u'll be recognised as a nokia 3230 if u choose the user agent NOK

this way i eliminate the requirement of opening such sites in default nokia browser. u can now use netfront for all those nokia useragent specific sites. since most sites r not so strict about what user agent u have, u can set the useragent to NOK and surf web and mobile web normally. change it to IE6 or whatever when required.

what prompted me to change the user agent?
i m on a network called Airtel which allows acess to its website only thru mobile. i found that i can open it only thru default nokia browser and not with any other browser even on phone. initially i found a way to access it on PC using Mozilla.....u can see my post on it here http://www.gsmhacks.com/forums/mobil...s-mozilla.html

then i thought of accessing it thru NetFront coz i think that the defalut nokia browser is simply horrible. i mostly use NetFront on my phone and i dislike opening nokia browser when i need to go to Airtel's page. so i just modified netfront and changed user agent NS4 to NOK. i chose only NS4 because i knew i would never use it in my life, so NS4 was changed into a Nokia 3230 string.

• airtel live in default nokia browser with default nokia user agent : page opens
• airtel live in netfront with default netfront useragent: page does not open (same result with all the other useragents available in netfront)
• airtel live in netfront with modified nokia user agent: page opens

u might wonder why i m so obsessed with netfront that one day i it then next day i make a trial to full version patcher, then again i modify the useragent. the reason is simple, i feel it is better than most browsers and maybe i m sort of addicted to netfront now. opera is better but it hogs more RAM plus it does not have text only mode, it does have a better download manager. but still i like NETFRONT.
