MGTalk v0.2.2 J2ME - Google Talk for Mobile





MGTalk is Jabber client for j2me midp 2.0 platform (midlet), supports some Google Talk features. May run on any j2me midp 2.0 mobile phone or communicator, tested with Nokia series60 phones and Siemens/Benq mobile phones.

Features as jabber client:

Works with any jabber server
Supports SSL connections
Supports PLAIN, DIGEST-MD5 authorizations
Autoconnect and reconnect functions
Roster management (Adding, removing, renaming items)
New message notification by sound
Sends and receives authorization requests
Holds chat history while midlet runs
Status and status string management

Features as Google Talk server client:

Supports X-GOOGLE-TOKEN authorization
New mail notification from gmail mailbox
Supports google shared status management



Configuration instructions:

* Download and install to your mobile phone the latest version of MGTalk
* Start application, select Add new... item and click your joystick or choose Edit command
* Type Name of new profile

Configuration for Google Talk account:

User name: your GMail account with @gmail.com
Password: your GMail account password
Host name: talk.google.com (leave unchanged)
SSL?: uncheck Yes (leave unchanged)
Port: 5222 (leave unchanged)

Auto connect: click Yes if you want to automatically connect with this profile after program starts

Enable auto reconnect?: click Yes (leave unchanged) if you want to enable auto reconnect function

GTalk features: click Yes (leave unchanged) if you want to receive new mail notification and use advanced status management functions

GTalk - Use alternative server for Google authorization: click Yes if you want to use alternative server for Google authorization which does not use SSL. This web-service also developed by me.

Initial status and GTalk - disable status change by other clients if you click Yes in second option, MGTalk will always set this initial status after changing your online status by other clients

Status text and GTalk - set status text after login? if you click Yes in second option, MGTalk will set typed status text after login, otherwise - last/current status text will be used

Sort by list: specify roster sort method here

Show offline users?: if you uncheck Yes - offline user will not be shown in your roster

Chat history length: specify number of stored messages in history of each contact

Configuration for Jabber account:

User name: your JID with @<domain>

Password: your password

Host name: type host name of your jabber server

SSL?: check Yes if you want to use secure connection with server and server supports it

Port: type port number of your server here. Usually: 5222 for nonsecure connection and 5223 for secure connection

Auto connect: click Yes if you want to automatically connect with this profile after program starts

Enable auto reconnect?: click Yes (leave unchanged) if you want to enable auto reconnect function

GTalk features: uncheck Yes

Initial status set your initial status here

GTalk - disable status change by other clients not used

Status text set your initial status text here

GTalk - set status text after login? not used

Sort by list: specify roster sort method here

Show offline users?: if you uncheck Yes - offline user will not be shown in your roster

Chat history length: specify number of stored messages in history of each contact

Next, choose Save command

* If you want to add another profile - select Add new... item and click your joystick or choose Edit command

* Click on the selected profile to start connecting

* If you receive Disconnected or error message - Select Close session command and try to connect later

* After successful connection you will see your contacts roster
