Are these the same phones, just with different carriers?

In Atlanta,

** the T610 is free at T-Mobile
** the T616 is $49.99 at Cingular.

Are these good deals?

Sort of. They cover different bands. T610 covers 900, 1800 and 1900MHz while
the T616 covers 850, 1800 and 1900MHz.
