Xtreme bluetooth car kit and T610

Just bought an Xtreme Bluetooth car kit as I drive a lot and need to use my
phone on the move, I'm having one or two teething troubles and just wandered
if anyone uses one of these and could give me a few pointers. I've paired
the phone with the Xtreme and can receive incoming calls without problems
but when I try and make a call all that happens is, the phone calls
whichever number is at the top of my calls list, in other words the last
number I called. I've set the phone to the portable hands free profile and
all the numbers I am likely to want to call have voice tags set up, I
thought that when I pressed the call button on the Bluetooth device it would
give me the option to say the voice tag for the number that I want to call,
but I cant get that to work. Any advice on getting this to work properly
would be gratefully received, it seems to be a pretty good piece of kit and
I don't want to take it back.

have you try press call button and hold for few seconds for the beep? if
that dont work try it on the phone, press and hold the call button to see if
the voice dialing is set up properly.
and make sure that the bluetooth is set to ON rather then automatic

All the settings are as you suggest, the problem is that when I want to make
a call the instructions say that you should press the call button on the
Bluetooth unit to activate the phone. This works but it dials the first
number in my call list which is of course the last number that I dialled. I
am guessing that there must be a setting on the phone that I have to
activate but I am not sure what else I should do. At the moment if I want to
make a call I have to dial it on the phone and this of course defeats the
object of having this Bluetooth unit. Any further help appreciated.

(i got a differnt handfree unit, but hope the principle still the same, so
dont mind me if i repeat myself ok)

so on your unit, quick press once (not hold down) = redial last number? <-
on mine activate phone
what about :-
press and hold down? <- activate voice dial
press once, press once again (2 quick press)? <- redial
press once, press again and hold? <- activate voice dial
