No kidding. The t610 is even worse than the t300/t68 for non-illuminated
reading (though it looks better with the backlight on).

I asked SE how to turn it off and they said you can't, it's designed to
save the battery. I pointed out that we can't see it without the light
so not having it on would save even more but the guy I was talking to
didn't seem to understand.

I think there's definately a comm's problem in the SE customer
(non)services. In my opinion we need to put our opinions/ideas direct to
the geeks that program these things, not just the tossers that sit behind a
customer services pc all day answering silly questions. I was told that my
comments regarding the LED thingy had been passed on; more likely pissed on!
Its a case of finding the route to the right people within SE.

not having it on would leave a colour image on the screen, that you
definately wouldnt be able to see without the backlight on. that is what
drains the battery and screen life.
the black and white simple clock has very high contrast, and though not
visible readily under low light, they have allowed you to just turn on the
light and view the clock by pressing one button.

not sure how much the clock screen saver would use, but not too much i would
imagine. i guess thats why they put it there, cause in SOME lighting
conditions it is visible,
