T62U *777* issues

It has been brought to my attention that more people are noticing the
*777* thing than they are noticing the rest of the story. So, to rehash
old news and bring up little more:

On the T62U GAIT phone by entering *777* on your screen and then
rebooting your cell phone a few hidden options will come up in your
menu. Of key interest is the options under Settings > Networks to
choose your fate under the Protocol stack. Stick with the GAIT SIM card
setting? Be more adventurous? This is a can of worms.
If you plan to change your service plan you might want to leave this
setting alone until afterward. Cingular updates your coverage groups
via an SMS message to your SIM card. With Cinglular both the GSM and
TDMA feature of the cell phone is handled through the SIM card itself.
(AT&T requires a TDMA setup through the EXTRAS menu.)
The biggest advantages to activating the *777* options is that your cell
phone will now tell you what system (T= TDMA, G= GSM, A= AMPS) you are
on. And that you will no longer see the phrase "Emergency Only" showing
up with some of your coverages. Now you can do more than just call 911
in those situations.

Turning off the new options if found in EXTRAS. The debug tools setting
has an advanced debug mode. Select OFF and you will no longer have
those extra options running. It might be a very good idea to restore
everything to the original settings before selecting this option.

Any time you use the *777* features you do it at your own risk-
especially when you turn off your sids and socs.
