Depends on the price: tt's quite likely the former will fall in price
bigtime when the latter is launched. The difference otherwise isn't that
much, mainly the small reduction in size. Other than that, there are a
number of smallish but welcome changes: better stylus, slightly better
camera (still 0.3mpixel though), probable compatibility with ms duo pro
(thus the ability to use >128mb expansion cards), etc.

Have a read of the review at www.mobile-review.com , that's probably the
best piece on it so far.

Are you implying the P800 won't use cards larger than 128MB!?

If so I've been sold a dummy by the providers that gave me this phone.

Which size of Memory Stick are you using? Do bigger sticks than 128MB work
with P800?

Thanks,
Werner

Memory stick and Memory stick duo (what the P800 uses) only go up to 128mb -
it seems the architecture can't handle more than that.

However, Sony have just introduced a new memorystick pro standard with
capacities theoretically into several gigabytes. The smallsize version of
this, called the Pro Duo, will physically fit inside the P800 but doesn't
work at present. Some people think there might be a firmware update for this
to be possible - personally I'm doubtful, cos there's really not much
economic benefits for SonyEricsson to do this.

Another possibility is that they might release a Select version of the Duo,
which essentially gives you two banks of 128mb in a single stick. You can't
use all the memory at once - to access stuff in the other bank you'd have to
flip a switch.

OK, hope that all made sense. Sony have really made a cockup of their whole
flash memory format - far, far too many types of memorystick, and all of
them _massively_ overpriced compared to securedigital and compactflash.

Well, I just spoke to Sony UK who emphatically state that the P800 does not
currently and will never be able to support a bigger memorystick than 128.
This is due to the internal architecture.
Bugger.
