T62U questions

Posted: 10-01-2003, 06:01 AM
According to other posters the T62U displays a G on the main screen to
indicate that its on GSM. Mine does not.
Another post stated that you could access your protocol stack from the
Extras section. Once again- I can't.
As far as the *777* option my power button is hard to use. most of the
time it does nothing. This is really fun to turn back on. How long do
you have on this option before turning it back on means nothing?
Finally, I have this through Cingular. I am assuming that most folks
who have written about the hidden functions of this cell phone are with
AT&T where the software layout is different. Any hints, suggestions or
comments are welcome.

After reading posts from wirelessadvisor.com I went ahead and tried the
*777* function. As soon as I rebooted the phone the alpha-indicator was
on the screen. Through settings I went to networks and found the now
revealed sid.soc disabler and protocol stack. Playing with the protocol
I found that the GSM chip mode appears to be the same thing as GSM Home
mode. It will not go anywhere but GSM. On GSM Pref mode it would go
into TDMA when the GSM signal got too weak.
This is slightly different that the AT&T version which seems to require
an elaborate MIN update process before the TDMA portion can work.
