Twin SIM holders are not always the best solution, even though I can
understand the need for it. Using a twin card adapter may cause some
problems. For example, if you have the phonelock protection mode set to
"Automatic", which means that you are prompted for a phone PIN code every
time the SIM card is changed, you will have to enter that code every time
you switch the telephone on, because that's the way to switch SIM cards.
Also, a number of functions in the phone, such as voice dial, images
connected to calling number, received SMS:es etc. are erased every time the
SIM card is swapped.
A better method is to use the type of SIM cards that can hold two separate
phone numbers, which is provided by some operators. You select which number
to use at startup by entering different SIM PIN codes, I think.
An even better solution is to use only one SIM, or to have two phones ;-)

For many, the reason for having two SIMs is to take advantage of the
differing phone rates at different times of the week or to have two
SIMs for different countries. And they tend to be different carriers.
So a dual number SIM from the same carrier doesn't work in these cases.

I'm aware of this, the major disadvantage with a dual number SIM is that it
is very unlikely that you can get one with numbers from different network
operators, but I still think that one should be aware of the disadvantages
too. The phones are simply not designed for usage of dual-sim adapters, at
least not in general, and the adapters are produced by other than the
producers of the phones, and the compatibility is not 100%. There might be
warranty issues also. There are, or at least has been, a couple of phone
models that do have two SIM sockets built-in from start, maybe that would be
something instead. It seems like the telephone manufacturers are not
iterested in this dual-sim concept, however, maybe they want to sell an
extra phone insted?

Oterwise, in my belief, the major reason for having more than one SIM is
that you want to separate your private life from your work i.e. one "work"
number and one for private use. It might also be that the employer pays for
the "work" number. At least that's the situation for me, and that's why I
have two SIM cards, and after having swapped SIM cards for a while, with the
disadvantages of loosing messages and voice dial marks, and even risked to
damage one or both SIMs, I have ended up with two phones.
