1. The ringer will start at very low level, even if increasing ring volume
is switched off.
2. There is no blinking light anywhere indicating that the phone is on and
there is reception.
Is this part of the phone, or is mine a faulty example?
Thanks

Yup, normal.

Yup, again it's normal.

No, your phone sounds like it's working as it's designed to. You're going
to be even more upset once you find out the SE in their wisdom have chosen
to remove the remaining battery time indicator.
Believe you are on the early production of T610. Was told they have fixed
this problem. It is not normal.

Let me reassure after the previous post !
It is normal. There is no blinking LED anymore for signal (only for
charging)
The volume thing is normal. It's rumoured this may be changed in a future
firmware upgrade but until then, all T610's do this
SE will update your firmware free of charge within the warranty period. I'm
wating for the next release before having it done

Why am I not surprised that a top-poster would give such wrong information?
It is perfectly normal on all current versions of the T610. There is no LED
on the phone to show that you have a signal. As for the ascending volume of
the ringtone, that may change on future versions of the firmware, but on all
current versions, that is the way it is.
I can confirm that the increasing ringtone (slightly annoying eh?) and
the lack of indication lights are standard. Not sure about the lack of
battery indictor ( maybe it was a joke?!) as my T610 has one.

The sound problem could be solved by downloading the tune to a PC , change
the MIDI sound level and load it back to the T610.
Works fine ...

No, no joke intended, but perhaps I could have been a little clearer. You
will have the basic indicator on your standby screen, but on pushing the
side buttons on the T610, you just get basic info about the state the phone
is in. On the older models (T39, T68i etc) this used to produce a screen
giving a good estimate of how much battery time was left in hours - don't
know why they decided to remove this useful feature, especially given that
Sony are now involved with their InfoLithium technology.
Yeah sorry richard, it occurrred to me what you meant after i posted!
MY brain wasnt in gear. Still a great little phone though? Only had it
for a week, but used to have a T68i before (wife has it now!).
