fiddly

Well, ok, the tone was quite quiet while receiving messages but I
really LOVE the joysitck. Never had any problems with it.

Both. There's a choice of polyphonic tones, some of them pretty loud.

My T610 looks and feels quite good. And all the new gimmicks like poly
ringers, Java, much more memory, integrated camera and MUCH better
screen make it the best mobile I ever had.

I've just upgraded my T39 the cheapskate route by getting a Vodafone
Live branded T610. I was underwhelmed by the T68 - particularly its
washed out colour screen. I checked out the T68i & wasn't impressed with
its screen either. The one on the T610 is far, far better (it needs to
be on any camera phone). Not surprising when it has greater colour
depth. They still have some way to go.
The main shortcoming is lack of expandable memory. Unlike my unbranded &
unlocked T39, the T610 won't allow the connection to remain active when
outside the browser & I've not been able to setup email successfully
yet, so I have no way of uploading images to my PC - not via cable or
email anyway. Syncing with Outlook still works fine with the old s/w &
the Ericsson Phone Settings app works for most functions.
The joystick is OK but I often overshoot or scroll when I meant to press
but I've only had the phone less than a week so will get used to it. One
useful function missing from the T39 is the ability to edit, show/hide
ID or select the default number from the phonebook before calling. The
voice prompt tone no longer deafens & many poly ringtones go loud & some
message received tones are louder than others
