T68 & IPAQ 1910 !

Can anyone tell me how to get these 2 talking to each other via
infrared so that I can remotely connect to my ISP for E-mail etc ???
I think I've tried everything but I must be missing something....
please advise.

tell phone to go into ir mode
then tell ipaq to connect via ir
