I tried the shops at the weekend but none of them seem to offer the tariff
offers Orange currently has on it's website!

Can't tell you a date, but they will have to open each package and swap
the charger for new ones supplied from SE. When that's done they will be
available again.

What they should have done is to send the shops new chargers in bulk and
then do a point of sale swap and replace for those that had the dodgy
charger. But I expect the logistics of that are more complex.
