Software menu/tweaking

Posted: 09-09-2003, 06:29 PM
Are there any links on the web for optimizing the software for unlocked Sony
Ericsson phones (T200) to work on different networks eg. phone originally
made for Fido Microcell and now is on Rogers AT&T network? SE tech said
that unlocking the phone and using the different carrier may effect
performance as the software on the phone is configured for that [original]
network.

Or can someone please post the menu commands here?

Thanks and much appreciated.

Hehe, those SE techs are funny, a fully unlocked phone will work on any
provider, no performance issues to talk about.

what a load of shite. The phone is made to work on any
800/1800/1900MHz Network. That's why it's a triband handset.

But what should they say. The Lock is to ensure the profit of the
network provider? Vodafone, T-Mobile, Orange, ... won't buy mobiles
from SE if they won't provide these locking features? All this?

The answer from the tech staff sounds much better and (to a point) not
illogical, right?

Well, if it's unlocked it will work on any network as it did until now
on your one.

The tech guy is just saying that so you can keep it locked to Fido

Yes. So, there will be performance issues then? I

If so, is there any software tweaking that will make the performance be just
as good as the software originally tweaked or created for the original
phone network provider?

It makes sense, but even here this opinion is not shared by everyone. If
this is indeed the case, then there will be performance issues?

If so, is there any software tweaking or reprogramming that will make the
performance be set as optimal as with the software settings created for the
original phone network provider?

no, it doesn't makle sense. Or how would you explain that you can buy
SE phones off their webshop without a contract and "optimizations"?

Why does O2 sell them uncustomized?

It's all a lie to shut the requesting customer up.
