Help in choosing the right USB Bluetooth adapter for T68i and Ipaq 1940/Palm T2

MSI works without problems with both T68i and my 5450. However,
I only use the basic stuff (GPRS and phonebook sync with the phone,
ActiveSync with the iPAQ). I think I had PAN running in a test setup,
but it was not trivial to set up and I had to upgrade the software
that came with the MSI to get any usable results.

The real range is about 5-7 m indoors (thin walls). I did not have
the possibility to use a "100 m" device, but I'd say that to get
any benefits of it all your devices have to support it and AFAIK
neither T68i nor the iPAQ is such a device.

Well, my opinion is that BT is an ugly mess of protocols that is
a pain to implement and test and that it results in a poor software
support and unbelievable lack of good documentation and HOW-TOs :-(

Stano, I know we can't save the world (or Bluetooth or anything else for
that matter), but we're trying to put as much information as possible in

Yes, I know your site and appreciate it - I found valuable information
there several times, many thanks!

However, I feel this should be the responsibility of the vendors and I find
the situation where everyone relies on enthusiasts to provide free support
for their non-free stuff very unfortunate :-(

How much are the bluetooth adapters? If you got a 2210 instead, it has
built-in bluetooth and a CF slot for future expansion needs for $100 more
than the 1940.

Mauricio,
Belkin is NOT the solution, they are still at version 1.2.2.16 of the
drivers! I agree that their hardware is usually top-notch, but it seems
their software updates lag way behind. You might get faster updates with
the Billonton.
I have the Belkin, and even though it works, it is a pain 'patching' the
latest Widcomm drivers from 'someone else' (Dell was the latest) and working
at it unsupported.

So, buyer beware with Belkin.

Thanks... And you're right to the point. Two of the few vendors doing some
stuff like this is TDK (www.no2wires.com) and Bluetake (www.bluetake.com)

They both have guides on their sistes (and no2wires actually points to
Geekzone for some of the guides).

i was thinking about the billionton device myself, but a quick glance at
their forums revealed a very interesting fact: they have acknowledged that
their current software/drivers don't support Pocket PC 2003 pdas.

is this is a fact, or was the forum poster mistaken? otherwise i'd have to
stick with MF's suggestion of picking up a belkin bud.

since I don't have a Billionton I never dug into any issues they are having,
sorry. I am using my Belkin with a Palm Tungsten|T and a SE T68i, so I
can't help you on the PocketPC OS question either.
