T18S problem

Posted: 08-21-2003, 05:40 PM
Was given one of these recently, it seems to switch itself off with no
warning, even though the battery appears to have life in it. But switching
it on again, it turns itself off while searching for a network, which does
make it seem like a battery problem.

Searching on the net, I see there was a known defect with these, wherby they
would switch off randomly. Is the cure for this known?
I've cleaned the battery contacts of course.

Help and suggestions are very welcome.

Regards
Gary

I remember when I was using the t18,
there was a different world...
terrrisom was a rare word in the media..
yahoo, microsoft and amazon stocks was shooting through the roof.... etc etc

well, back to the problem.. I think the metal (copper) contacts in the
phone,
is bented "backwards" so when there is a slight move on the battery they
loses contact.

what you should do is just bent a little bit outwards...
it should fix it . I had that problem in the past, and I think I fixed it
that way....
if my memory was correct....

Thanks, did check that out previously, but the problem was indeed a faulty
battery rather than the contacts, it appears to charge okay, no dead cells
as such, but just not supplying adequate current. Replacement works fine :-)
