flashing phones?

Hey, I wanted to know if anyone knew how the flashing on the back of a cell phone works? I'm not sure what it's called but I heard that when you talk, it flashes and stuff like that. They have that in Asia. It doesn't just flash for incoming or outcoming calls. Let me know if anyone knows what I'm talking about at camilak@videotron.ca

Thats just some LED connected to the phone circuit - looks pretty cheesy - it can be done for 10 bucks here equivalent to USD 2.5 - voids warranty.
