Beg to differ... last academic year I used SonyEricsson T68i, tecom usb BT
dongle, normal pc and bt genie (now o2 online) contract sim. Connected using
winxp DUN to 915000 , the wap number, and got a nice http connection out of
it. the wap gateway even compresses pictures en route to make the most of
the 9600 connection!
It was a bit unreliable, sometimes the connection would give up (not hang
up, just stop responding) after a minute or two... most of the time was no
problems at all, but there were occasions when i left it on for 11hrs at a
time to keep my email bang up to date ;-)
ps. i would've posted on here sooner about this but i wanted to milk the
free wap for all its worth !
Your provider may have called it the "wap system" but you were using
GSM/GPRS to actually connect. WAP is the protocol not the method by which
you connect to the service/Internet. The original reply was correct.
