Can midi tones adjust louder?

Posted: 08-04-2003, 08:18 AM

Hi all,
I have an Sonyericsson T610, and I was wondering if there was such a
feature as to adjust the ringer (other than the default max settings)?
Thanks in advance

If you are loading new MIDI files to use as ringtones, the problem may lie
with the files themselves. If the "volume" level of the MIDI files is set
low, there are ways of adjusting the file before you send it to the mobile
but this requires the right software and a certain amount of time, if you
are not familiar with MIDI programming

To be honest, the software package I use to do this kind of stuff (and
lots more) would be total overkill just for MIDI editing and I dont have a
good idea of what is available at the lower end. Do a search for "MIDI
editor" in your favourite search engine, you should be able to find
something.

depending on how the file was recorded/programmed, you might get away
with adjusting a few volume levels or you might need to use some more
in-depth functions and bring the note velocity levels up throughout the
song. It really depends how much time and energy you are prepared to
sacrifice to get a nice ring-signal ;o)

On this subject, could anyone point me to the specifications for midi
files to played on a T610? I've tried downloading midi files I've made
myself- quite simple and not very big- but every time I try to download
them, I get a message that it's an unknown format.

OK- answered my own question. Looks like there's nothing wrong with the
T610 or the midi files, but some strange problem when donwloading them
using my computer as a server. Anyway, I've quickly made an "old ring"
sound, but more like the UK double-ring version. You can download it if
you like:

I'll try and find a recording of an old UK phone, so I can make it more
authentic. The one I made is a bit too fast as well, I think. I'm hoping
that the old ringing sound isn't copyrighted in some way, so I don't get
into trouble by copying it...
