Some time ago, I played around with my self-built Flasher for NOKIA 6210
and tried to burn the firmware from my girlfriend's 6210 onto my device.
The result was that the mobile was stuck in an endless loop because of
wrong checksums.

Some days after bringing it to a service point here, the guy told me that
they could not fix it. But after inserting my SIM and the battery, the
phone worked fine - and guess what: the IMEI was my girlfriend's one.

Service centers mostly use the IMEI from the phone's case - so there should
be no problem in changing the IMEI. The only disadvantages are for the
service provider: they can't track your phone.
