Using Phones (T39) as a modem

Posted: 07-08-2003, 01:14 PM
Hi all,

I've got another question about my T39, which I'm slightly confused about.

How is the T39 supposed to be used (as a modem) to connect to the internet
with say Laptop or PDA? Can I use it with my dial-up ISP or does the T39
only work through a GPRS connection? I can't seem to get the phone to
connect to my isp through bluetooth, or infrared for that matter, even
though I have the t39 infrared modem installed.

The manual says (p. 49) that to access the internet via bluetooth on the pc
you need to install the bluetooth installation software which is on the
ericsson cd. Anyone know where on the cd it can be found?

thanks

Elijah

The T39 supports both dialup (CSD, HSCSD) and GPRS. What you can actually use
depends on your carrier and how your account in provisioned, since special
support is needed both for dialup and for GPRS. In either case, the ISP could
be your carrier, or a standard dialup ISP, again depending on your carrier and
what service(s) are provides.

Make sure your account is provisioned properly for what you're trying to do.
Test the Internet connection with the email client in the phone.

What you really need is a Bluetooth adapter on your laptop or PDA; to "pair"
the laptop or PDA with the phone; and the proper modem configuration in your
laptop or PDA.
