weird calendar sync error - T637 & XTND connect PC 1.1.1

This has worked in the past, but tonight when I tried to sync my outlook
calendar appointments with my T637 using the XTND software, I got a pop
window saying first "opening connection" and then "9" with a little square
box next to it.

I have rebooted, turned the phone on and off, tried a different USB port,
I'm connected "live" to outlook, but no luck. Again, this worked last week.
I'm almost ready to unistall & reinstall the software, but I see that the
version I am using is the same as on the SE web site.

I do use float, but they don't sync appointments (yet).

Any suggestions?
