T68i Emergency Call Not On Call Listing

Well, you're talking about an .au linkup, so everything may be different
over there, but I can tell you what happens in NYC with t-mobile (and
previously when they were named voicestream and omnipoint).

First important point: In the US, all calls to 911 (our 112) are, by law,
mandated to go through whether or not the phone has a valid account with
the receiving tower's company. Or, for that matter, whether there's even a
SIM in the unit or not. (has to be frequency and format compatable, of
course).

If I make a 911 call on my own company's circuits - that is, the one I
have an account with, then yes, the bill shows a "911 call/no charge". On
the other hand, if I route through a competitor because they've got the
only coverage in the area, or if there's no sim in the phone (don't
ask...) then the call still goes through but there's no bill.

It's possible your 112 call got picked up by a competing network because
the signal was stronger. Hence no bill. If you'd have made a regular call
it would have routed through the weaker conenction on your authorized
account.

Yes, similar here. But I'm not talking about bill, just the actual
Call Listing in the physical phone. The call not appear on the
internet version of my account either but call details sometimes
delayed there (especially if a free call). I'm relatively sure it was
my own telco that transferred the call but in the heat of the moment
they could have said anything! My next paper bill not scheduled until
mid-December so will see if prints out there.

Since I had to sign off on the formal Police Statement just a few
hours later the precise time no longer an issue, it just intrigued me.
I also wondered whether it would have made a difference if I'd dialled
the official Australian emergency number (000) rather than 112 (which
is what I tend to remember as then it doesn't matter what country I'm
in, if my GSM phone works the emergency call will go through).
