T630 screen problem (phone thrown by daughter)

Posted: 04-05-2004, 06:55 AM
Catching me unawares, my 2 year old daughter snuck up on me and in one swift
movement pulled my T630 from my breast pocket and deftly threw it across the
room aiming it perfectly at a concrete fireplace.

No superficial damage to the phone but the screen display has gone haywire
as illustrated in these images http://www.metafazeuk.com/t630/

I have taken the phone apart (I had a T610 which due to its immersion in a
bath (and hence the recent purchase of the T630), I've become quite skilled
at)) to examine the screen and can see no obvious damage. Would anyone care
to speculate what has gone wrong? (I thought a conncection had come loose
but the screen is attached to the PSB by a ribbon cable which seems intact).

Many thanks

Ted

Option 2 is very appealing following the ear-bashing I've had over the
weekend.......

Yeah, I think I would take the P900 myself, but then again!

Seriously, can anyone tell by looking at it where the problem may lie? Is it
repairable do you think? (If I flag up the possibility of buying yet another
phone she'll remove something and it will make my eyes water whatever it
is!)

Thanks for your help - please!

Ted

Why do Kids do that, my Niece is the same, if you tell her she is not allow
to touch something, she goes out of her way to get it, when she does, what
does she do....., she throws it as hard a possible!. the mind boggles.

I'd thought of that but it would mean going through the rigmarole of getting
it certified as 'beyond economical repair'. I thought if I could wade in
there with a hot soldering iron and a hammer I may be able to do something
:-)

I did think, though, that it may have dislodged something which I could have
replaced seeing as the screen appears to be undamaged, but I know as much
about the inside workings of a T630 as I do the mood of my wife when I tell
her........
