t610 net useage

Hi,

Is it possible to use the t610, a bluetooth dongle, with a laptop and a isp
like freeserve or any isp to use the net? basically was wondering can I use
the phone as a phone line to use the net from my laptop. I ask as I'm am
trying to avoid fitting an extra phone socket upstairs to use with my
laptop.

So just wondeirng if it is possible?

Yes.

You can use normal dialup (only 9.6k though, up to 28.8k on Orange but
25p/min) to connect to your chose ISP or you can use GPRS which will connect
you to the net effectively using Orange, O2, Voda etc. as your ISP. The
latter may require a bit of tweaking to get your existing outgoing email
working.

AFAIK, GPRS net access isn't available on O2 PAYG.

Hi Grant,

Would it be possible to use to modem in the laptop its a 56k one, I really
only need to use the phone just for the phone line rather than its modem but
am unsure if that it is possible or if isps allow dialups from mobiles?

Not possible. The modem in your laptop needs an analogue phone line to
work - your mobile is digital.

If you want to use your laptop at home but away from the physical phone
line, consider Wi-Fi or a DECT modem - something like this:
