T226 File Formats

Yeah, I found that the AMR format is used for the memos. It seems to
also be used for the regular voice communications too. The format is
so small that it would make sense anyway. But it is definitely not
good for quality recordings.

One of the main things that I am trying to figure out is how to get
sounds like the default ringtones into there. Are they MIDI?

They are on other current models (t6xx) and they were on the t300.

Thanks everyone. I will look into using midi as a ringtone, since it
seems to offer the best sound quality.

OK, how would one go about putting the midi file into the phone? I am
sure this is just the stupidest question. But I don't know the answer
or I wouldn't ask.

Maybe just a link to a site that could exsplain it that, I can't find.

I uploaded the midis from my PC to my own web site, then navigated to the
site with my phone and downloaded them.

Interesting idea about using a personal website. If you're phone is
WAP-enabled, you'll be good for that. Otherwise, you've got to do it
the way I did. Hopefully you don't have to experience the pain and
misery of working with the Sony Ericsson people and software that I
did.

Buy the DCU-11 data cable. Wait 2 months for it to arrive. When you
question the sale support about it, don't be suprised when they act
less than professionally. Install the data cable and realize that
they didn't give you any software to use with it besides the drivers.
(There is a link in the software that leads you nowhere nor tells you
where to go from there.) Eventually figure out where the software is
hidden, read it's description, and then realize that it is worthless
(the T226 software that is). Search the internet and find a program
called SendFile which can send anything to the phone. Install the
Phone Monitor which can be found at ClubSonyEricsson's software
section (if they are actually up and running). (The Phone Monitor
monitors for a phone connection to the PC. It will not monitor for a
phone until a software requests it to do so. Confusing?) Connect
your phone to the DCU-11 (with enough force to almost break
something), run SendFile, and wait about 10-30 seconds. A wizard will
pop up asking you to name you phone (the wizard comes from the Phone
Monitor and only does it once). Finish the wizard and then SendFile
will probably see the phone. Use SendFile to select whatever file you
want to send to the phone and click on "send". It will send the file
you selected at 9600 baud, so don't expect it to be quick (it is
pathetically slow). The phone will pop up a window asking if you want
to accept the file, and tell you how much free memory you have left.
Clicking yes will start the transfer, otherwise SendFile will just
time out. Go inside the phone menu when it is done and find the file
that you just sent in th area where it belongs, such as the Games menu
if you sent a Morphun game. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

That brings me to what I was currently working on - file formats. As
I had mentioned, you can send anything you want to the phone.
Unfortunately, what the phone does not support will be rejected
without notification. It does not tell you that it is not supported,
it just doesn't show up in the list after sending it. There is
practically no information about what file formats are accepted by
this phone on the internet. This newsgroup and about 2 forums on the
internet are all that I had to go on, and no one talks much about this
phone. I don't think that anyone really cares about it because it is
a cheap and limited phone.
