The package includes both PC and PPC utilities. Haven't tried the PC stuff. The PPC executable needs no install, just unpack and place anywhere, I think - I just put the files into the same folder I installed TCPMP to on SD, then made a shortcut to the EXE file for my Start Menu (\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\multimedia being my preferred location).
This is a plugin, or so it's described. I haven't found a way to use it from within TCPMP, but no matter, it works fine as a standalone. What's it do? Browse to any YouTube.com video page. Cut the address from your Pocket IE addressbar. Open YouTubeDownload.exe. In the top of the two input boxes, browse to your preferred video download folder - something on a card is preferable for conserving main memory of course, but will likely cost in terms of a slightly slower downloading experience. My choice is to download to RAM (in a WM2003SE Toshiba e830) and then launch into TCPMP, then if I like the video enough to save it, copy it to an SD card. This saves writes to the card, extending its life perhaps. In the case of a WM5 or WM6 device I'd probably download directly to the card, as cards are replaceable, but ROM tends to wear out and not be so.
Anyway, TCPMP is playing these YouTube videos WAY more smoothly and with less pixelation than what I see on my PC. I'd been using VideoDownloader plugin for Firefox until today, but this thing is the bomb, a tidy and free solution for PPC users to watch YouTube content at last!
By the way, free = donate if you like what's happening with TCPMP. I gave last year, and did a bit of bughunting for Gabor too. Seems only fair when a software is this great. Tried CORE, but relative even to TCPMP 0.72 it kinda blows. Compared to 0.81, there's no real comparison. TCPMP is just more versatile and for me, works better. With CORE I see too many errors and incompatible files. As a bonus, users no longer have to download all the TCPMP codecs separately. That makes it SO much simpler for noobs, and may finally put TCPMP on the map for mainstream users. One CAB file is definitely the way to go... though of course being able to direct the path for that CAB to install is even better... but the couple of simple reghacks needed are a bit out of range for beginners.
it does nt work on ma i mate sp5 (spv c600)says its not recommended for this device, not in the same words, but u know what i mean,i cant install the file does any1 know where i can get it?not from core coz looks like they r down i cant connect there, can any1 upload one for wm5 smart phone?
