Has anyone has problems with the Nokia Software Updater recently?

I've been updating phones since last year with no problems but fairly recently (within the last month) have been having endless problems.

Was updating an N90, and at the last step with about 10% left to install i got the message that connection to phone was lost.

The phone shut itself off!!!

Thankfully, it came right back on with the updated firmware but it could have been alot worse.

My advice to persons.

If your phone doesn't give u any problems, don't update the firmware just because there's a new one cuz chances are u could brick ur phone.

you say this but one persons experience does not make a problem. No problems with NSU here and all other people I've chatted to as well. Plus, if your phones in warranty does it really matter?

hey i recently bought a datacable for my n73 and i booted up pc suite and everything was working fine. but then i downloaded SU and it just messed my whole setup up. now i cant even use pc suite and ive tried uninstalling SU :<

u made a very valid point. IF ur phone is in warranty.
u should read the fine print on the troubleshooting section to nsu, especially the part which states that if ur phone goes dead outside of the warranty period they are not liable for any damages

you just have to love small print when updating firmware follow nokia's directions to the letter so if it does stuff up and is out of warranty you have some kind of arguement to make to them

but with the update software have had no problem update firmware on n93

Confirmed!!
Nokia Software Updates has FUCKED up my brand new Nokia N73.
Downloaded the update, installation was 85% complete then lo and behold, a message regarding phone recovery comes up.
Message states to remove battery and disconnect charger. Insert battery then reconnect charger, hold power button for a few seconds to attempt phone recovery.
NOTE however, that this is the same software that states that turning off phone will result in damage to the phone n it may stop working.
Go Figure!!
