green LED

I've been given a Nokia 6630, and though it came with a
user guide I still can't fathom what the green LED on the
top right-hand side of the fascia does, or what it's supposed
to do. It doesn't blink when the battery runs down (I've
cycled the battery twice to give it a good start in life), and
it doesn't blink when I receive a call or a text. In fact it
doesn't seem to do anything at all. Can someone here tell
me what it's for, please?

If this is the same as the 6681, then it is a light sensor. All it does is
monitor the ambient light and if it is low will turn on the LED's behind
the keypad when using the phone.

Try this, look at the keypad, and see if it is lit up. Cover the green LED
for a few seconds and see if the keypad lights up.

Hah hah! Yes, that's it. The manual doesn't cover this feature
at all, so thanks for taking the time to tell me.

Bookmarked for future reference. Thanks Pea. This is my
first smart phone, so I'm a bit lost. Tell me (if you will) how
can I make a video call when the camera is situated on the
rear of my viewing screen? Happy new year!

Oh. Terrific.

Thanks Brian. I've definitely got to get one. Wouldn't be right
leaving it only half-working.
