Classic Question Unlock NK402

Posted: 10-25-2005, 05:13 PM
Remember this one?

A neighbour has asked me to unlock a NK402 so I dug out the mbus/fbus cable,
plugged it into the old com port on my pc, dusted off the very dated
software cd and clicked away. Unlocked all four locks. Nice. Only thing
is the Orange SIM still wont register.

As far as I am aware the phone is "all above board" and used to be used
perfectly well on the O2 UK network.

I reckon it's down to the firmware version and something to do with the
phone not being dual band perhaps? 900 O2 instead of 1800 Orange? Ring any
bells - excuse the pun )

Details...
NK402
Was on O2 UK Network
Now needs to be used on Orange UK Network
v05.28
18.02.00
NSE-1
Used NokTool by Rolis v1.8 (and tried other software)
All locks have been opened according to the screen and the phone.

As a temporary measure I have given the phone's owner an O2 PAYG SIM to be
getting on with. Hopefully that'll register on the network just fine.

Would be grateful of any help.

Those phones were only single band. There were 900 and 1800 models, but if
you have one it won't work on the other.

Can't be done.

If they want a cheap and cheerful phone, get a Nokia 1100, they were less
than 30 quid from Argos or Woolworths or somewhere not long ago.
