Cingular - Nokia 6230 Question

Posted: 10-04-2005, 03:59 AM
Hi

I am thinking about upgrading to a Nokia 6230 using Cingular. The phone
is not available through Cingular anymore, but I can by it with a
Cingular Contract through the Nokia Website.

I have seen numerous posts and articles that there is a software
problem with the 6230 and Cingular causing the phone to lock up, start
scrolling endlessly through contacts, and dropped blue tooth
connections. A friend of mine has the 6230 with T-Mobile and said he
never had such issues.

Are these issues only with Cingular? Was it perhaps a firmware issue
that has been resolved by now? I would appreciate all and any help.

Thanks,

Christian

I've had the Nokia 6230 with Cingular for a couple months and had absolutely
no problems with using the Nokia software using Bluetooth or the Bluetooth
earpiece. Works great!

I also had no problems with the 6230 for the month I owned it, but
I didn't like that the media player didn't allow FF/REW of video
(and still find that absolutely absurd) so I sent it back and got a
6620. It's a much larger phone, but now that I've spent time
with it, it was a no brainer. It's 100x more powerful than a 6230.

I use the 6620 at work and love it for its functionality, but it is too
bulky for me. Great work phone, but a little too large for personal
use. I really want the 6682 but unfortunately its too much moola. I
will likely go with 6230. I wish they'd start selling the 6230i in the
US, but we are always behind.... *sigh*

theres no doubt, it is bulky, but after having that many features
and things to play with, i cant go back to a 6230. i watch
tv shows i download from the tivo on the 6620 on my bus
ride to work and it functions as my mp3 player. i cant
give up all the s60 apps out there.

I totally agree. When I got the 6620 at work I joked with my wife
saying I doubt I can go back to a small screen now. Unfortunately, the
6682 is out of my price range and I would feel silly having a 6620 for
work use and for personal use. The 6230 seems like a good choice, given
its size and still wealth of features.

Thanks for all comments.

I thought about upgrading to a 6682, but to be honest, the only
thing about the 6682 I like better is the form factor and the
external access to the MMC. It has less memory, it's buggy
as all hell right now and I could care less about the better
camera. Other than that, it really doesn't do anything the 6620
already does. So given the price point, it makes no sense to me
to upgrade.

Christian,

I had the same problem and wnet to http://www.letstalk.com
I got a great deal on two phones through Cingular, one was the 6320.
The 6320 was free, yes, it was FREE!
I ordered before 2:30 PM and paid $14.95 shipping for FedEx overnight.
I had my phone the very next day.

I love my 6320
