Yup dual voltage RSMMC cards are needed

I think you'll find it is, Fender.
I use an MMC RS DV 512Mb card in mine, no problem.
(RS= Reduced Size, DV = Dual Voltage)

Brian (and anyone else with interest),
Just as a point of interest. I bought an MMC 512card, and loaded some of my
ringtones on it. (on my 6230i).
When I received a call, the phone would NOT ring, if I had selected a tone
from the card. It would play the (boring) Dom Jolly tone (Nokia default!).
Tried three different MMC cards, but all the same. (Never had this problem
with my 6230).
Bought an RS DV MMC, and "RESULT". It worked fine, with the selected
ringtones.
Cheers

Quite true, Brian.
When I tried a normal (3 in fact) MMC card, and found the problem on each, I
called Nokia "customer service".
They informed me that the phone ONLY supports up to 256 cards.. I pointed
out to them the contents of the manual "supports up to 512", and their
answer was "Nokia have not yet released a 512 card yet".
It was they that suggested a DV MMC card, would work, which indeed it does.
Don't get me wrong, the "normal" 512 card worked fine on access, to tones,
pictures and all, but when the phone needed to ACCESS a tone (for an
incoming call), the display would "sort of pause with the callers name", and
then the default Nokia tune would play. It would NOT play the assigned tone.
In using a DV RS MMC it works fine.
Cheers

Hi Brian.
Current software 3.46.
Previous version was???? (3.35??) the one IMMEDIATELY before the release of
3.46. (I tend to take advantage of the s/w updates)
I was working on the "theory" that the DV card was a little more responsive,
for some reason.
There wasn't a "great" deal on the DV (512Mb) card, about 190Mb (which was
originally on my 256Mb card), hence the need for the 512Mb.

That is WRONG!
It takes normal MMC cards, which means it will also read smaller ones -
they are just a little harder to fit into the slot - but they work fine.
I belived that dual voltage rs mmc card can be use in 3G phone too.

interesting, i have been reading on gsm forums that 1gb cards work in the
6230i, my phone firmware reads 3.30
what is the latest will it make any difference to the use of mmc cards.

Could it be that Nokia don't market larger cards, so therefore they say
they don't work?
