"Subscribe to GPRS first"

Posted: 08-25-2005, 04:34 AM
I have a 6230 and I am with O2 in the UK. I cannot get the internet on my
phone. I have been to the Nokia site and saved the settings they have sent
me over and over again. I have also saved the settings that O2 have sent me.
Nothing seems to work. At one point someone on the phone at O2 told me to
clean the sim card - but that didn't work.

Any other wacky suggestions? I have looked all over Google and tried all the
normal suggestions - so I might as well try out the bizarre ones.

I had that problem on 6230i when using 3rd party apps. The solution was to create personal settings for GPRS, E-Mail and Web and one custom access point. then, define those settings as default and choose the access point you defined as GPRS modem access point (in the phone settings, not the general settings)

Hope it works for you.

Alan,

May be a daft question, but one knows??..

Have you asked o2 to "provision" GPRS on your account??
DON'T take it for granted that they "would have done it anyway".

They (o2) would need to set this on your account.

Good Luck

Dear Brian and KevinX
I have a feeling that it might be a problem at O2's end - although they have
told me that it should be on. Thay sent me out more of those text messages.

Thanks for the advice and I'll keep hammering away at them...

It sounds a bit complicated - I'll try O2 again first. Thanks for the
response!

It's definatly a problem on their side, one thing you could try is borrow a
friends simcard which has gprs working.
see if that works. If your phone is unlocked, try another provider. (this is
what I did)

Mine works now

b.
