How to use DKE-2 cable??

Posted: 08-22-2005, 01:19 PM
HI,

Phone model: Nokia 5510
Cable: original DKE-2 cable.

I read that with this cable I can ONLY upload music.

So I bought an FBUS cable, that connects via USB and emulates a COM
port.

With Oxygen it doesn't work, it says "COM 3: Phone is not found".

Can I use DKE-2 to transfer data or do I have to use only the FBUS
cable?

Thanks

Dario

Regarding problems with F-Bus USB cable connection:

>With Oxygen it doesn't work, it says "COM 3: Phone is not found".

1) Do you have any switches on your cable? If yes, you should switch the
cable to F(F-Bus) mode.

2) The cable's PIN contacts have to be of the same length and none of them
may stuck in cable's contact platform. Is it true? If not, then the cable is
defective.

3) Have you removed isolating foam around the cable's PIN contacts? Please
remove this, as the foam may block cable contacts.

4) Please, check, whether you have placed the battery to corresponding
battery holders (slots) in the cable's contact platform.

5) Is the phone turned on, while trying to establish connection? The phone
has to be turned on, so the signal could reach the phone.

6) What settings have you checked in our Program? Working settings are:
'COM3' (in your case) checked and set as 'DAU-9p/F-Bus' , 'Infrared' - not
checked, 'Bluetooth'- not checked, 'DKU-5/CA-42' - not checked, 'DKU-2' -
not checked, all other virtual COM ports- not checked.

7) Please make sure that cable connection is turned off in Nokia Connection
Manager ( 'Start' -> 'Settings' -> 'Control panel' -> 'Nokia Connection
Manager' ). If the cable connection is turned on in Nokia Connection
Manager, then our program won't pick the phone up even if it is successfully
connected.

8) Please, set virtual COM port's speed to '115200 bit/s' in 'Start' ->
'Settings' -> 'Control panel' -> 'System' -> 'Hardware' -> 'Device
manager' -> 'Ports COM and LPT' -> right-click once on COM3 ->
'Properties' -> 'Advanced' ( 'General' or 'COM port settings' - the name
depends on driver version). Here you should set COM port's speed to 115200
bit/s.

9) Make sure, you are using the latest version ( 2.8.3.3 ) of our software.
You can view version number in 'Help' -> 'About' . You can download the
latest trial version here: http://www.opm-2.com/download/opm2.zip

If you have any questions and/or suggestions, concerning our
program, feel free to post them on our official forum
http://www.opm-2.com/forum/
