Tomtom Sat Nav

Hey all you pay as you go customers that are thinking about buying a Tomtom
Sat Nav system DONT BOTHER.

I have tried both O2 and vodafone ... both of which are fine on the GPRS
connection (this is what u need for the Traffic News... Weather... Latest
Updates etc) and guess what? ... It doest work! Only CONTRACT SIMS WORK.
Dont get me wrong... use can still use it to get from a to b but whats the
point in having the latest technology when u cant use half of it?
Especially if ur stuck on the motor way for hours, because your phone
network wont let you pair up with the Sat Nav and u could've avoided the
queues? I have contacted Tomtom to ask them why they havent let the general
public know about this flaw... but so far? No answer. Just incase ur
wondering my phone is a nokia 6230 and works fine... except with Tomtom.

Jan.

TomTom traffic is only part of the satnav and in my opinion from using ANY
traffic service (other than TMC) they are all pants. Your phone never pairs
up with the sat nav as you say, just the traffic info at there server, this
does not in anyway affect the ability of the navigation (other than hold ups
etc). When I trialled traffic I found it woefully out of date by sometimes
hours. Even said that, I call one of the operators traffic line and there
info is out of date.

I have had the same problem with my PAYG Vodafone sim and when I bough
my TomTom Go two weeks ago in Halfords I was NOT made aware of the fac
that the unit could NOT be used with a PAYG sim card therefore, I fee
in my opinion TomTom could be accused of false advertising by NO
stating that the Tomtom Plus services can only be aquired throug
CERTAIN sim cards by CERTAIN providers
