6230 firmware V5.24 - any known problems?

Posted: 02-16-2005, 03:13 PM
I've just had an email back from my usual Nokia service centre and
they have advised me they now have firmware V5.24 for the 6230 so i'll
probably take it in within next few weeks.

Quick question though before i do, has anybody who uses this
phone/firmware version had/noticed any bugs/problems??

TIA,

Chris

Do you have any problems? If not, Never Change A Running System.

occasionally when using bluetooth & gprs at the same time it can reset
the phone. something which it would appear other people have
experienced and has apparantly been fixed in firmware 5.24.

Have you no spirit of adventure?

Someone earlier today mentioned a problem with using the + character in
the phone book to cause the remainder of the number to be sent as DTMF.
Someone else mentioned 5.26 but AFAICS it is intended for some other
european countries but not the UK. I'm not certain whether eggster is UK
based or elsewhere.

According to the latest software listing the 5.26 packages are for
Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, Belgium, Latvia and Spain. You can't
mix the 5.26 MCU with a 5.24 UK PPM so at present it's not possible to
use 5.26 here.

Whether that advice helps you though is a different matter ;-)

Just had mine done today, and (touch wood) I've noticed no problems so far.
Also *seems* to have resolved the reboot problem with bluetooth. I have
noticed that on the plus side, if the keypad is locked and you press any
key, the backlight now comes on for a second so that you can see what the
screen says, unlike before on version 4.40.

Mike.

Hmm, that doesnt happen on my 6230 with 5.24, just the usual "Press unlock
then *" without the backlight.

IMO, that's one of the many design flaws with this phone that are still
unresolved.

When the screen is dark, you never know which key is safe to press.

If the keyboard is locked, you get a somewhat benign "Press unlock"
message. But if the keyboard is not locked, you may cause erratic
undesired effects, depending on what key you hit on.

There should be a key that consistently and safely lights up the screen,
no matter what state the phone is in.
