Nokia 6230 - Nothing will display on the screen when switched on

Hi,

I bought a Nokia 6230 on Orange Pay Monthly about a week ago.
Yesterday I finally received the phone. My sister charged the phone
up for me while I was out but when I got back and switched the phone
on after disconnecting it from the charger, I found out she only
charged it for an hour and a half. Anyway, I could hear the Nokia
melody at the beginning but could not see the logo. All that I could
see was a clear backlit screen with nothing on. I couldn't even see
the battery indicator. After a few more attempts at switching the
phone on and off, I finally managed to get it to work. Thats when I
rung Orange up to register the phone. I then added all my contacts to
the address book. The screensaver then appeared shortly and the next
thing I knew was that the phone switched itself off. Again and again
I tried switching it on, but still got this blank screen again. I
charged the phone overnight thinking the problem would fix seeing as I
undercharged it in the first place. But yet again, the darned thing
still displays a blank screen. After waiting 35 minutes of listening
to crappy music presented to me on Orange's Helpline, I finally got
through to a rather uptight Customer Service Representative. She told
me to take the battery out of my phone for 30 mins while she
reprogrammed the software, and said to let the battery drain a bit. I
still can't seem to get this blasted thing to work so would be
grateful if anyone else who might have had a similar problem could
help me out.
