6340i Lockup

Posted: 05-07-2004, 07:58 PM
I have had a 6340i for about a month now. I just had a "lockup" where
the phone would not respond to any keys (I may have inadvertently hit a
couple of keys at the same time). Had to turn it off and back on to get
it working again. Firmware version is the latest: 8.06.1

Anyone else ever see a problem like this?

Thanks,
Harvey

My son and I have identical 6340i's. Mine does this often, his never
has. Even more irritating is that mine will suddenly show no signal
when there is a signal. I also have to power cycle it to fix this.
Also, often when I use voice commands, mine crashes and locks up. My
son's identical phone has very little of these problems. I wonder
about Nokia's quality control.

Do you have the latest firmware? I read that 8.06.1 was suppose to fix
some of the roaming issues (You can access the version number by keying
in: *#0000#). I have also seen the hunting for a new signal when the
reception should have been good - also will lose the "Cingular" logo
when the recption signal is high (I can still use the phone). FWIW,I am
on a Nationwide GAIT plan.

You would be surprised at any phone manufacturers QC.
If it works well enough, it doesn't go in the bin!
It sounds like it needs calibrating (probably the power chip, or the RF
chip)

Unfortunately, we are all Beta testers of Mobile Operating Systems.
I suggest reporting it to Nokia, as other phones using the same OS could
also have this bug.
