The Treo's camera is just as good as any other phone camera -- which is
to say that it's a waste of space, money, and weight.
You want a camera? Buy a camera!
I love my Treo 600, but that camera was just a stupid gimmick.

True -- so don't turn in your old analog phone when you buy the Treo.
Throw it in your glove compartment, and give it a charge every once in a
while. 911 service should be available without activation.
I also would have preferred to have the analog capability, but then I
realized that in 6 years of having a cell phone, I had *NEVER* used it
in analog mode.

....and if you can get used to Graffiti 2 (i.e., Jot!), install Graffiti
Anywhere and you can skip the keyboard. (Look it up on Google)

A possible work around for some.

Question....
Do you really feel that combining a PDA and a cell phone into ONE
device is a good idea?
Ive been looking at the HP Ipaq 4355 stand alone PDA.....and thinking
on keeping a simple single purpose cell phone to use with it.
But.... then on other days I think Ive decided on a combo device like
the Treo 600
Bottom line I change my mind daily! HAHA
Soo..... what's your opinion?

All that counts is how do much you want to carry and whether one device will
fit your needs better than two.

Remind me never to type and be on a speakerphone at the same time ... Hit
the send key before reading what I said ... LOL .... That line of mine
should read, "All that counts is how much do you want to carry ..."

If someone would come out with a small-form (e.g., the Samsung i500)
phone, *and* an up-to-date OS, I'd buy one in a heart beat!

For me, the answer is an absolute, enthusiastic YES!
I can maintain almost complete communication without my laptop. I can
surf and google whenever I need to, without watching the clock. I can
retrieve and install applications and documents via the web.
If I weren't concerned about security, I could probably even synch with
my desktop remotely.
I can store dozens of novels on my SD memory card. I use iSilo -- if you
want to catch up on the classics, the Gutenberg project will keep you
busy as long as you like. There's nothing preventing anyone from
putting up a website with pre-iSilo'ed books to download directly from
the web. Hmmmm... I oughta look into that!
You can even stream radio stations, I understand.
No, there's no question about it -- for me. I rarely use the voice part
of the Treo, but when I do, the integration with the address book makes
things VERY handy. (True for email, as well.)

I'm less than impressed with the technical aspects of the WinCE (now
called Pocket PC) O.S. I have my doubts about its reliability, but
you'd have to talk with someone who has used it.

How is something that is stated in the specs a flaw?
Everything says it's 800MHZ CDMA and 1900MHZ CDMA.
No one is denying it does, or ever had analog capabilities, which was
done to reduce size.
