Which program opens a *.obk file

Posted: 03-03-2004, 07:58 AM
Hi,
I have saved all my phone numbers to a file which has a *.obk extension. The
problem is i had deleted all my phone software and cannot remember which
program opens this type of file. I have tried downloading a few but nothing
that open or saves to a *.obk file. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

John

Rename your *.OBK file to *.CAB and you'll be able to open it with any
software that understands CAB archives.

If you will have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact
us.

Oleg gave you the answer to this yesterday. Rename the file extension to
..cab and you should be able to open it with WinZIP or similar.

I did this and opened it in winzip but the files where all *.dat files and
didnt make much sense when i opened them. I tried to open them with Word,
notepad, and word pad. Is there some other program i can try and open this
file with.

You should still be able to strip the information out using notepad, but it
will be tedious. Alternatively, why not try to find someone with Oxygen who
could export the data to a text file for you - or you could always buy it
yourself :-)

BTW, could you please not top-post, it makes the thread much harder to
follow.

1. *.obk file is [O]xygen Phone Manager [b]ac[k]up. You can extract it's
content using any CAB-compatible archiver, but most files inside the archive
(including phonebook file) are stored in internal Oxygen Phone Manager's
format, so you can read them only from Oxygen Phone Manager.
2. Although the Restore function (that reads *.obk file and gets all the
data from it) is available in the registered version only, you can read your
phonebook file with trial version of OPM: just extract PB.DAT file from
*.obk archive and read it using Phonebook "Load from file" button (do not
forget to select "All files (*.*)" in files filter combo box).

If you will have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact
us.

I have now managed to get back all my old phone numbers thanks to the help i
