Is there any new phone coming out that will use the Cark91? Seems all the
newer models require a change of kit and im bored with the 6310.

In a word, no. For reasons best known to themselves Nokia have shot
themselves in the foot as there are an awful lot of people out there with
6310i's and CARK-91's who will *not* now upgrade, me included.

A direct replacement for the 6310i has yet to be announced. Although it's
coming up two years since the 6310i was announced so a replacement may come
next year - although it may be 12 months longer. I hope so as the 6310i is
a brilliant phone - it's just a shame it's so pig ugly.
The closest to date is the 6100 although that seems to be the latest of the
6510 -> 6610 product line.
They have standardised on pop port / Cark 126 and perpetuating an
inconsistent Cark 91 based product line doesn't seem to make much sense.
They'd be better to bite the bullet and bring them all into line I think.
Has anyone switched from Cark 91 to Cark 126? Is the wiring loom plug
compatible? ie. can you just swap the control boxes over and using the wring
from the Cark 91? I suppose they could provide an adapter so a, say, 6410
with pop port could use the Cark 91 and Cark 126 - they must have more Cark
91's installed than any other car kit by a huge margin. Nokia do have the
headache of the installed base of Cark 91's being an obsticle to upgrading
if the 6310i is the last to use the 5110 / 6110 interface.
If they brought out a 6310i replacement (no silly cameras etc) which was
close to the 6100 form factor with the same or better talk time as the
6310i - I'd change my car kit to get it. Tempted by the 6100 but I'll wait
and see what they bring out as their next standard issue pure business
phone.

Hmm, I quite like it, it's a lot better than the 6210, although IMHO the
6150 took a lot of beating, the small screen was its only let-down.

AFAIK it's a complete new kit, nothing the same except possibly the speaker
and microphone. Like I said, I'm happy with my 6310i and I've just bought a
spare for when it dies..!

It took me half a day to install the CARK-91, I don't plan on repeating the
experience just to change the phone..! Personally, I've never seen the point
in the "upgrade every 5 minutes" syndrome; if a phone does what you want it
to do, why change it..? The only reason I changed from the 6210 to the 6310i
was tri-band for USA use, also occasional GPRS. How often do you "upgrade"
your home landline phone, I wonder..? Not as often as your mobile, I'll
bet..!

The problem with the 6100 form factor is that the phone has to be a similar
size, width and shape to fit the kit (expecially the aerial connector)
Anyone else have any ideas?
Thanks.

There is an adapter available for the cark-91 which converts it to
bluetooth so any bluetooth phone can be used, IIRC it's made by
Lintech. I haven't tried it so can't say what it entails. Google for
it.
