Thanks Ivor. I should been more explicit. The signal strength where I
live is very poor but I improved things a little using a spare car kit
aerial placed 10 feet above my office in the loft! I now need a proper
plug to terminate the co-ax cable onto the phone. I had considered
using the full car kit but permanent hands-free and sorting 12 power
supplies was too much hastle.

Sorry, didn't realise you were talking about non-mobile use..! Perhaps a
move to a network with better coverage might be in order..? I'm not sure
that a plug to suit would be available as a separate item but I may be
wrong.

AFAIK, they are a standard plug type, should be able to find a matching one
in RS / Maplin catalogues or equivalent.

'just getting back to this after some time away. Thanks for the URL. I
investigated this and even better was that fact that they sell booster
aerials together with a cable kit to plug into the back of the phone.
It turns out that car aerials are little better than equalisers to
compensate for the dB loss through the car bodywork so don't really
help much in this application.

Thanks again. Once I try the aerial I'll return to this and post an
update on the booster aerial.
