I have a nokia 8310 and it asks for the security code. I have no idea what
it is. Is there a way to find it out or reset it without a data
cable/software etc?

It would have been set to 12345 when it
originally left the factory.

I've already tried that. It was given to me and I didn't realise it had the
code set until I put my sim card in. The person who gave it me, isn't around
anymore to ask.

which ever you would like the security applied to. they wouldn't give you
the option of choosing, if there was only one you meant to set it to.

Not with this generation of handset, it needs a nokia service centre. note
this is a good thing as it means it is actually a security feature now
