Nokia N80i Announced

Nokia has announced the Nokia N80 Internet Edition a software enhanced version of the N80. The N80i bundles extra software including Yahoo Go!, Flickr Integration, WLAN Wizard, Download! (Catalogs), Mobile Search and Mobipocket to give a more complete out of the box experience. The hardware specifications remain the same with quad band GSM and WCDMA radios, a 3.0 megapixel camera, and IrDA, USB, Bluetooth and WLAN connectivity.

In the press release Nokia underline the internet capabilities of the phone. The S60 Web browser with its minimap and visual history features gets highlighted


New features include:

* Yahoo Go application bundled with the phone allowing access to many Yahoo services.
* Flickr integration in the Camera and Gallery applications as first seen in the N72, N73 and N93.
* Supports downloading of compatiable third party VoIP applications which use the embeded SIP protocols (also present on the N80).
* WLAN Wizard to help users get connected to WiFi networks.
* Nokia's Download! Client (built on the Preminent technology) and currently available on other phones as the Catalog application. It allows you to download new and featured applications for the N80i.
* The Mobile Search application (available for other phones here) is bundled and found in the top layer of the applications menu.
* Mobipocket eBook reading application bundled with the phone.

The N80i also keeps all the N80's key specifications and features:

* Quad band GSM phone (850, 900, 1800, 1900), WCDMA 2100
* 3.0 megapixel camera
* UPnP wireless sharing functionality
* Bluetooth, IrDA, USB and WLAN connectivity
* Symbian 9.1 and S60 3rd Edition

The N80i will be available from the middle of September in Pearl Black or Patina Bronze.

The N80i adds together many of Nokia's recent software efforts and represents its commitment to the mobilizing the internet:

"The internet has evolved from static web pages to communities and people sharing experiences.
