E815 compared to RAZR V3c - What to buy?

Posted: 05-12-2006, 02:21 PM
I'm ready to "upgrade" my Verizon v60i to either the Motorola E815 or
the RAZR V3c. I'm looking for some good advice on what would be the
best choice. Are there any clear advantages / disadvantages of one
phone over the other? I would use the following features: Bluetooth,
mp3, camera, 2.5mm wired handsfree (occasionally), and built-in
speakerphone. I also have several OEM Motorola chargers for my v60i
and an OEM Motorola SNY8597 (98308G) car speakerphone system. The
connector on the v60i appears to be the same as the connector on the
E815. Would these v60i items also work on the E815?

I've also noticed several posts regarding "disabled features" that
Verizon seem to perform on the software their phones are running. What
exactly are the features that are "missing" from the Verizon E815 and
the RAZR V3c?

Thanks,
John

The fact that the E815 still has the Motorola user interface would be reason
enough for me to choose it.

E815.

All your existing accessories will work, and there are hacks for the phone
that open up all the disabled bluetooth features. All in all it's a better
constructed phone too. The RAZR is very overrated in my opinion. The
keypad is also very sensitive to moisture.

Agreed. I have the 815 and like it as a phone. I don't use the other
features enough (other than the BT) to comment on those. The text
input for entering addressbook entries is intuitive (if you select the
correct predictive text settings), the 815 also uses the Motorola UI
instead of the VZW UI like the Razr has. The Motorola UI is more
customizable.

The E815 also has the 2.5mm headset jack like jcsarp wants, the Razr
relies on the USB port for all data, charging and wired headset needs.

I too have the E815 and love it. One thing the E815 has over the Razr
is a mini transflash card to store your pics and mp3's on. Also, the
reception is excellent.

No, the V3c is the only one that will work on Verizon.

Not yet, it hasn't been released by any US carrier yet. I'm sure VZW
will get a CDMA version eventually.
