turning off V3c message beep

So I made the mistake of getting the RAZR V3c and now I'm trying to
figure out how to disable the repeating beep that lets me know I have a
message waiting for me. If I leave the phone plugged in and recieve a
message when I'm not near it, it beeps every few seconds and pretty
much annoys the crap out of anyone nearby. How do I turn this off
without turning off all the sounds? I see "reminder" under the sounds
menu, but I don't know if that's a message reminder or something about
important dates/times.

The manual, of course, is useless. After 17 minutes on hold with
Verizon, they couldn't figure out what I was talking about.

Anyone know? I just want to be beeped/buzzed ONCE when I get a message.

There is no setting for just once. It's on or off.

Turn Reminders OFF. That won't affect ALARMS.

True, the Reminders are either on or off but the initial Notification,
which can be any ringtone or sound you choose, will still be played.
So, when a message arrives, you will hear your favorite message
notification sound just fine, but there will be no reminder tones
thereafter which I think is what the OP wants to do.
