Charging Problem

Posted: 05-01-2006, 02:26 PM
M 4-months-old black Razr V3 (which I bought, new, unbranded, unlocked)
always had horrible battery usage time, both stand-by and talk time.

Since last week, it refuses to charge to Charging Complete status, empties
after 3-4 hours standby time, appears to be warmer than before when charging
and even empties itself overnight when switched off.

I have used 3 different batteries, 4 different charges, including car
charger and spare battery charger -- same results.

I think it's time to investigate repair/replacement!? Could anyone with
appropriate experience give me guidance to Motorola phone/web places to make
the necessary inquiries/requests. I live in Nebraska.

Many thanks for any specific help. I have tried to find this on my own, but
it's a tangled web.

Regards,

Franz

Sounds like a bad battery, you can get them cheap on ebay. For less
charger/phone problems, stay with the Motorola OEM batteries.

Try a new genuine Motorola battery. Charge it in the phone overnight
with the phone turned off. Keep Bluetooth power off when you're not
using it. If that doesn't work, the phone is bad.

I have used 1 original Motorola battery (came with the phone) and 1 spare
after-market one. Exact same symptoms.

I have charged the phone both off and on. Same result. Bluetooth is always
off, except when I use my BT earpiece on trips.

The phone works very well when it ishooked up to a power source or for the 2
hours the batteries last after being fully charged (according to the battery
meter).

Is it worth contacting Motorola for repair/replacement. If so -- how and
where?

Thanks for your assistance.

Bruce:

Thank you very much! I tried this page, but whenever I was ready to go to
the second page of the "Mail to National Service Center" page, I encountered
an Internal Server Error.
I finally called Motorola, was given very prompt and courteous information,
and asked to mail the phone to Bloomington, IN, where, I was told, it would
be repaired or replaced.

I was very pleasantly surprised by the short (nil) waiting time in a phone
queue and the very customer-friendly treatment. Go Moto!!

Regards,

Franz

Yeah, you probably got a bad phone from the company. Sounds like the

That's what the "level 2" service center diagnosed. It's now on the way to
the National Service Center for repair/replacement. They were all very
forthcoming and friendly.
