Help with getting seem access to an e815

Posted: 04-14-2006, 04:06 AM
Hi all,

I know this issue has been done to death, but I've looked around at the
usual places (howard forums & this newsgroup), and I don't see anything
relating directly to my issue.

I purchased an e815 around the beginning of March 2006, and I've been
trying to unlock the feature that will allow me to transfer songs
directly from my PC to the phone without having to move the transflash
card from the phone to the PC every time.

In order to unlock the feature, I've followed exactly the instructions
here: http://www.nuclearelephant.com/papers/e815seem.html , using the
P2K software I got here:
http://www.inetron.com/index.php?opt...il einfo&id=8
and the drivers I got here:
http://www.inetron.com/index.php?opt...l einfo&id=21
..

I've connected the phone, allowed the PC to load all the drivers, put
the phone into hub mode & allowed the PC to load more drivers, then
started P2K. At that point, I see the phone is "connected" in the
lower left hand corner, but I'm not able to download (back up) the seem
from the phone to my PC - when I enter the addresses & push the button,
the app just hangs there for several minutes, then wakes up, but no
data has been downloaded.

I've done this on both an XP machine upon which I had installed
Motorola Phone Tools; I can use MPT to move phone book & calendar
entries to the phone, so basic connectivity isn't a problem. I
purchased MPT a few years ago for a different phone; it is updated to
the latest 4.x version now, and I'm using the cable that came with it.

I've also tried it on a clean Win 2K machine that had no Moto software
installed on it, other than the stuff indicated in the instructions
above. The results were identical.

I've seen the instructions in the Howard forums that relate to the same
process, but they involve doing stuff with "My Bluetooth Places" (I
have no Bluetooth interfaces on any of my PCs), and they also involve
messing around with MPT, which doesn't seem applicable.

Is there something I'm missing here? I'm guessing that the drivers
that I downloaded from the link above may not be appropriate.

Thanks for any help you might be able to give me.

Try using Motokit. That's my personal favorite for SEEM edits. See
www.xlr8.us/hofo for a very excellent listing of known SEEM edits. You
can d/l Motokit from www.motomodders.net.
