jar and jad files ???

What are they?

I'm using pktools to install JAR files to my V3 RAZR but the games then
dont work (yes, they are for thisphone).

Am I doing it right? Do I need the JAD files as well?

If you want to load files via USB cable you need to make jad files with
a program called Jadmaker and load both jar and jad. You first have to
do a SEEM edit to the phone to enable the Java Uploader.
I've never bothered with all that because there is an easier way. Use
Bluetooth. It's a simple drag and drop operation. You'll need a
Bluetooth dongle for your PC but they're less than $20 on ebay. Just be
sure to get one that specifies that it comes with the Widcomm or
Broadcom drivers. Read my tutorial at www.brobin111.blogspot.com for the
step by step instructions.

Here's the dongle for $14:

Games can also be easily downloaded over WAP, although data charges apply.
There are WAP sites that make it possible for you to transfer your own games
(ringtones, pictures, etc.) -- see the FAQ below.

As for Bluetooth, I personally find that the standard Windows XP SP2 driver
works as well or better than the Widcomm and Broadcom drivers, but as always,
YMMV. The principal downside of the Windows XP SP2 driver is that it doesn't
support as many profiles (e.g., the headset profile).

John, How have you done the OBEX Push for .jar files with the WIN XP
drivers? I've never been able to figure that one out.

I used the default drivers from XP for transferring photos, and I think I
made a GPRS connection, but I thought Motorola Phone Tools did not work
with the WinXP drivers. Is my memory faulty?

I installed the Widcom drivers, and I recall that it was specifically for
MPT, but I could be mistaken.

MPT works fine with my XP. Try updating the drivers from Motorola.

Don't u just need the java uploader enabled if you want to upload the
games using your phone ?

I'm using a USB cable anf a utility called pktools which allows me to
drag and drop files to/from PC and phone.

You'll also need JadMaker and Midway.

XP SP2 Bluetooth drivers work fine here with a generic Bluetooth dongle and
Motorola Phone Tools.

More precisely, a Belkin F8T003 USB Bluetooth dongle (Cambridge Silicon Radio
Ltd chip).
