Use LiveUpdate to upgrade to the latest version (4).

You have to install the driver "P2K" you can find it pretty easy.
Then the computer shows your phone when connected as a "motorola USB
Modem" If the ver of Phone tools supports your phone you should have
it! GL!!!

http://www.cingular.com/midtolarge/communicationmgr Communications Manager
contains all of the Cingular supported devices. You can install the
application and uninstall it, which leaves the drivers installed.
I might have done that before I installed the MPT package.
Or
I thought the MPT package included the driver. If LiveUpdate to MPT4.28
doesn't fix the problem, have a look at BVRP:
This is on the FAQ page for BVRP http://support.bvrp.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=3966
"The driver installation tool listed in 4) will install the usbser.sys
"driver file from Windows 2000 (which does not exhibit the incompatibility)
"for use with Motorola phones on Windows XP.
"The driver file is installed as "usbsermpt.sys" as to not conflict with a
"Windows system file and also to avoid being overwritten during Windows
"Update, etc. "
There is no documentation included with the Zip itself.
It located and deleted several "old" files, and installed its own infs.
oem28.inf
DriverVer=7/10/2005, 2.0.0.6MPT`
usbsermpt.sys,,,0x20
I don't see that it copied either of the .sys files to c:/windows.
There is a usbsermpt.sys in my login directory, but not in c:/windows/*.
Maybe you should be in c:/windows when you expand the zip.

Thanks guys. My phone is now detected, however, I still have some
problems. I cannot bring up the Phonebook. However, when I selected
syncronization it ran the wizard that transferes the contacts from (
Outlook ?) somewhere in my computer into the mobile phone. I would
like to edit the phone book but how ?? Do I need a plugin for ring
tones, photos etc ?
Thanks.
Thanks.

You may have to upgrade a few times to get to the 4.04 but it should
work. I think it does it in steps.
